Ann Decker is an author/illustrator, graphic designer, painter and comix artist formerly of New York City, where she was a magazine designer. She began making comix in 1990.
Her comix have been published in WW3 Illustrated, Girltalk by Fantagraphics, 33 Things Every Girl Should Know by Crown, and Mind Riot by Simon & Schuster. She has exhibited her paintings and drawings in Morelia and Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, where she now lives.
Belle & Bete & Burt was inspired by a love of cartoon mice from Beatrix Potter to George Herriman to Art Spiegelman, and intended to be enacted in the classroom, presenting endless creative opportunities for children, teachers and parents. It is her first children’s book.
The video below was taped at the Casa Werma in Pátzcuaro as the culmination of a storytelling workshop there in 2022.
